Numeracy and Literacy
Kangaloon Public School strives to build a strong educational foundation and explicit teaching in all the key learning areas. There is also a strong commitment to the training and development of staff in these key learning areas.
Numeracy is taught with quality hands-on teaching practice. Teaching activities are related to the unit of work being studied for that term. Explicit teaching in Literacy is also a feature of our program. The features for the various genres are taught in reading and writing. Children are encouraged to practice complex vocabulary and language structures.
The latest resources in both Numeracy and Literacy have been purchased to complement teaching practice and maintain high interest levels in the classroom. These resources range from interactive software, measurement resources to the latest books.
Multi-age classes allow for students to “slide up and down” the curriculum, according to their individual needs and ability. Extension and remediation programs in Numeracy and Literacy are implemented as required. With the assistance of district consultants, individual programs have been developed and implemented for targeted students.
Kangaloon students have achieved above state average NAPLAN results.
